1. Virtual Tutors for Struggling Readers

When:

July 22, 1:00 PM: Virtual Volunteer Orientation via Zoom

July 24-28: Introduction to your BINHI Buddy

July 29-August 4: Start dates of the BINHI Buddy tutorial

September 2-8: End dates of the BINHI Buddy tutorial

What:

  • The BINHI Buddy Project is a one-on-one personalized tutoring method of learning where BINHI Scholars will be coached by a volunteer to help them overcome reading challenges. The project responds to the needs of the scholar by focusing on the reading skill where there is a difficulty. It aims to prepare the scholar for independent learning.
  • The project will be implemented online using available free online platforms such as Google apps and Facebook. Volunteers should be willing to commit at least 60 minutes of his/her time every week for 6 weeks to conduct the weekly one-on-one tutorial session with his/her assigned BINHI scholar.

Organized by: BINHI English Literacy Foundation Inc.

Founded in 2008, BINHI was launched with an English literacy program crafted and designed by volunteers who aimed to teach reading, writing, and comprehension skills to pupils whose performance are below the academic benchmarks. BINHI’s vision—to keep every Filipino child in school and learning well—drives BINHI to keep going and grow the number of BINHI scholars who will lead tomorrow, as today they learn to read.

2. Module Creator for Online Parent Kapihan Session

When:

August 12: Briefing and training

August 28: Deadline of module output

Optional (Schedule TBA): Join and facilitate online Parent Kapihan session for parents of patients from different Kythe-affiliated hospitals

What:

Kythe Online Parent Kapihan Sessions are designed for parents of child patients to gather and connect with each other on a monthly basis.Having said that, Kythe is looking for volunteers who will create the modules that will be used during the online Kapihan sessions. Preferably, volunteers should have the background in creating online activities related to team building, training, parent empowerment, self-development, and life coaching.

Expected output is a 1-hour module based a program flow that Kythe will provide. Volunteers can join and facilitate the actual Kapihan session, if they are interested to do so. If not, simply providing the modules within the deadline is already a huge help to them.

Kythe is a non-profit organization that helps improve lives of children with cancer and other chronic illnesses. Through their Child Life Program, they have provided psycho-social support to alleviate the anxiety and reduce burden of the patients and their families. They provide medical assistance, educational assistance and virtual play sessions. Together with their hospital partners, donors and volunteers, they aim to promote healing and growth. They aim to inspire hope.

3. Online Resource Generation Campaigner

When:

Orientation Days: August 1 & 16, September 1 & 16

Volunteer Period: Starts right after the orientation and will last for 10 days

What:

Through social media, information about the condition and needs of vulnerable communities in various locations in our country can be disseminated quickly and thoroughly to non-vulnerable sectors who have access to social media. That being said, CDRC is looking for volunteers who will help provide reliable and adequate information that will raise the social awareness and encourage non-vulnerable kababayans to help the most affected and least served sectors in their community

Volunteers will be campaigning per batch. Each batch will have 10 days with 5 volunteers. Schedule will depend on the volunteer’s availability and will be scheduled after the orientation. Volunteers will get to participant in some of these activities / tasks:

  • Share links to infographics, videos, presentation regarding disaster preparedness, prevention and mitigation, response, recovery and rehabilitation.
  • Share documentaries on interviews of beneficiaries who received assistance after a disaster and/or documentaries on recovery and rehabilitation projects showing how survivors recovered after a disaster
  • Share Information and Educational Campaign materials on earthquake, fire, typhoons, volcanic eruption
  • Solicit financial assistance /donations, which is more practical during peace time.

CDRC is a non-government organization that pioneered and continues to promote community-based disaster management in the Philippines. CDRC operates nationwide through a network of regional centers affiliated with the Citizens’ Disaster Response Network (CDRN) and through people’s organizations. Organized in 1984, CDRC focuses its assistance to the most affected, least served and most vulnerable sectors of the population through disaster preparedness, prevention and mitigation, emergency relief, recovery and rehabilitation programs.

4. E-Poster for Environment Education

When:

Flexible. Coordinate with them to agree on the e-poster deadlines. They have programs all year round that need to be promoted.

What:

Create e-posters to help promote their events. The content for the posters will be provided. Volunteers can also grab photos from the NACCI’s Facebook page to include in the e-posters.

Organized by: Nature Awareness and Conservation Club Inc. (NACCI) 

NACCI was created to pursue environmental programs geared towards the conservation of the eco-system. They focus on organizing tree planting events for outreach programs and corporate social responsibility. They also have different social and environment responsibility programs, mostly on massive mangrove and upland tree planting, rehabilitation, and reforestation. These are usually in partnership with local fishing communities and farmers.
