Volunteer Opportunities: 8 Physical Events to Try before the Year Ends

What:

  • Join this river clean up along the stretch of Marikina River Parks. Volunteers should bring their own cleaning materials (e.g. walis ting ting, dust pan, trash bags, etc.), prepare gears that can protect them from the changing weather (e.g. caps, umbrella, rain coats) and bring their own drinking water and snacks.

When: November 18, 2023 (Saturday), 8:00 am – 11:00 am

Where: Roman Garden Marikina River Parks Barangay Jesus Dela Peña Marikina City

Organized by: La Liga Mariquina, Inc.

La Liga Mariquina is an NGO that aims to empower the community by organizing different socio-civic activities that revive the spirit of “Bayanihan”. They conduct tutorial sessions, clean up drives and tree planting activities.

What:

  • Help feed the homeless by volunteering to help with meal preparation, distribution of food and dish washing. The Saturday feeding program caters to the homeless in Quezon City while the Sunday feeding program caters to those in Manila. 

When: Every Saturday and Sunday this November 2023, 4:30 pm  – 8:00 pm   

Where: 1 Dalisay West Triangle Quezon City

Organized by: Karinderia ni Mang Urot (KMU)

KMU is a soup kitchen which has been feeding the hungry and the homeless since 2007. This organization aims to help eradicate hunger by providing free meals to people who cannot afford to buy their own food.

What:

  • Hit two birds with one stone by combining travel with volunteering. Help plant trees while immersing yourself in the local community and widening your knowledge on nature awareness. Some tree planting activities include beach swimming or turtle conservation visits. Check the iVolunteer website for more details.

When & Where:

  • Beach Forest Tree Planting (Brgy. Gulod): November 29 (Wednesday), 4:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Turtle Conservation & Tree Planting (Bataan): December 16 (Saturday), 3:30 am – 7:00 pm

Fee:

  • November 29 – Php 777.00 (includes seedlings, local guide, snacks). Roundtrip van can be availed at Php 999.00 each, minimum of 10 pax.
  • December 16 – Php 977.00 (includes seedlings, snacks, turtle conservation entrance fees, local guide). Roundtrip van transfer can be availed for Php 1,077.

NACCI ‘s goal is to promote environmental programs that are geared towards nature conservation and livelihood protection for those whose livelihood rely heavily on nature.

What:

  • Support children and youth in poverty by helping with a feeding program followed by an educational activity. Saturdays are focused on arts and crafts while Sundays are for providing free tutorials in core subjects. During the feeding program, volunteers will assist in food preparation, set-up, distribution, and clean-up. Afterwards, they will be assigned to a group of students to tutor or provide guidance.

When & Where:

  • November 19 (Sunday), 7:00 am – 11:00 am: Helping Land, Tondo, Manila
  • December 2 (Saturday), 8:00 – 11:00 am: Helping Complex, Temporary Housing, Brgy 105, Tondo, Manila
  • Meeting place for both events will be in front of Inland Corp. gate, Radial Road 10, Tondo.

What:

  • Bring your expertise in family medicine to help address the diverse healthcare needs of marginalized individuals and families. This medical mission needs compassionate family doctors who will directly impact the health and well-being of those who lack access to quality healthcare.

When & Where:

  • November 20 (Monday) & 24 (Friday), 9:00 am – 3:00 pm: Helping Land Complex, Temporary Housing, Tondo, Manila
  • November 22 (Wednesday), 9:00 am – 3:00 pm: Blk 54, St. Martha Estate Homes, Batia, Bocaue Bulacan

What:

  • Celebrate the International Volunteer Day with fellow volunteers—both new and experienced. Through advocacy talks, this workshop will help participants find the advocacy closest to their hearts. This is a good opportunity for volunteers to interact and network with like-minded individuals who can help and inspire them to discover and pursue their advocacies.

When: December 2 (Saturday), 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Where: AIM CONFERENCE CENTER (ACC) – Jesus V. del Rosario Building, Benavidez corner Trasierra Streets, Legaspi Village, Makati City

Fee: Php 150 (snack + Php 50 will go to a partner NGO)

What:

  • Honor heroes while making a difference in the environment by joining this tree planting and clean up activity at Mount Samat National Shrine (Dambana ng Kagitingan). Volunteers should bring their own cleaning materials (ex. Walis Tingting, Dustpan, and garbage bags) and prepare gears to protect them from the changing the weather.

When: December 4 (Monday), 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Call time for those who will avail the roundtrip transfer is at 3 am.

Where: Activity venue is at Mount Samat National Shrine, Bataan. Meeting place for those who will avail the roundtrip transfer is at Roman Garden Marikina River Parks Barangay Jesus Dela Peña Marikina City.

Fee: Php 1,700 (Seedling + Souvenir) or Php 2,000 (Seedling + Souvenir + Roundtrip Transfer)

What:

  • Share your talent by helping document the PWD Awareness Fair and KAYA Concert. These events intend to spread awareness on PWDs—their rights, challenges, and achievements. The concert itself will feature inspiring and entertaining performances by PWDs and PWD Advocates.

When: December 6 (Wednesday), 8:00 am – 6:30 pm

Where: Trinoma Mall, Activity Center

Organized by: Grain Foundation for PWD Inc.

Grain Foundation is an NGO that helps persons with disabilities by giving free opportunities to study, live, and work. They provide free Special Education, Vocational Training, and Social Enterprises that may help PWDs become functional and productive citizens, and eventually, be part of the labor force.
